How Our Cake Decorating Camp Sold Out in One Hour — And What the Kids Created! 🎂

This past summer, we hosted our biggest and most exciting cake decorating camp yet — and to our amazement, it sold out in under one hour. Not only that, we had over 80 kids on the waitlist! We knew there was excitement around baking and creativity, but seeing that kind of enthusiasm from families in our community truly blew us away.

So what made this camp so special? Let’s take a look behind the scenes at what our campers experienced and created during this unforgettable week!

A Week of Cake, Creativity, and Confidence

Our Cake Couture Love Camp was hosted in partnership with the City of Davis and welcomed 32 kids into a week filled with design, baking, piping, modeling, and decorating. Each day had different creative activity, preparation steps, and skill focus — from learning how to pipe buttercream, to modeling fondant, and to molding chocolate.

Campers didn’t just decorate — they designed, planned, and expressed themselves through edible art. By the end of the week, every child walked away with new techniques, new friends, and a cake they were incredibly proud of.

A Peek at the Camp Itinerary

Here’s a quick look at what our campers tackled throughout the week:

• Day 1: Design & Baking Prep
  Campers start by designing their cake, preparing cake, pans, and boards, as well as make buttercream, and begin exploring with fondant.
• Day 2: Baking & Decorating Practice
  Next, campers make their batter and bake their cake, as well as finalize their cake, design, practice, piping, and finalize fondant pieces.
• Day 3: Cake & Decorating Prep
  Campers create the colors they’ll use in their design. They also fill and crumb coat their cake, complete any fondant figures, and explore chocolate molding.
• Day 4: Decoration & Showcase     Finally, campers bring their cake vision to life! As well as prepare for the family and friends showcase where they present to a full crowd.

What the Kids Created

It’s hard to put into words just how creative and joyful these kids were. Some created whimsical, character, and even unicorn cakes! These cakes were so colorful and full of life!

What stood out the most wasn’t just the cakes — it was the confidence and excitement that grew each day. It especially helpful to include ice breakers, because by the end of camp, kids had also created new friendships and memories.
