Easter Cake Inspo!

Hi friends,

With Easter coming on Sunday April 9th, it's the perfect time to start thinking about some fun cake design ideas to celebrate this special day. Whether you're planning a big family gathering or small intimate celebration, basket cakes have always been a fun show-stopping design.

Create the basket part of the cake by using icing, fondant, or even candy bars! You can also pipe grass and decorate with chocolate, plastic or fondant eggs. To add a handle, get creative! For the fondant cake above, we used a wire hanger that we wrapped in fondant. The beautiful cake below is by My Cake School and features white chocolate Kit Kats, chocolate eggs, and a chocolate bunny.

To add even more character, use Peeps! Chelsweets made this gorgeous basket cake below. The fun Peeps, egg colors, and basket ribbon make for a really pretty contrast with the white cake and milk chocolate bunny.

But, you don't need a handle to make a fabuous basket cake... skipping the handle also works! Check out this gorgeous basket cake made by Dicas de Confeitaria with pretty basket rosettes, petite butterflies, and bold basket weave technique. For a quick how-to on the basket weave technique, scroll to the bottom where you can see how @Chelsweets spaces out out the piping design.

No doubt, the basket cake is always a fun and festive cake that both kids and adults love. We hope these Easter basket cake ideas have inspired you for your Easter treats.

Happy Easter and happy baking!
